Bulgargaz to ask KEVR to reduce gas price for January

Bulgargaz will submit a proposal to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) to reduce the price of natural gas for January.

This was announced by the director of the company Nikolay Pavlov, who together with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov inspected the compressor station “Kulata”.

The reason for this is the final delivery price of natural gas from Azerbaijan, which from January 1st enters Bulgaria, Pavlov said. He added that in international markets the value of blue fuel in the last month jumped by 17% .

2020 was a good year for the gas sector in Bulgaria, Bulgargaz director said and pointed to the renegotiation of prices with Gazprom as a key event, thanks to which “were reimbursed over BGN 200 million to Bulgarian consumers”.

In December Bulgargaz sent a proposal to the EWRC for the validation of new gas prices from January 1, 2021. The request is for 25.86 leva per megawatt hour, which is a decrease of about 6% compared to the current 27.70 leva, paid by Bulgargaz customers.

EWRC is expected to take a final decision on the price of natural gas in force from 1 January 2021 later today.
