Coronavirus also hit Belene NPP

“Today we received an official letter from the Bulgarian side that because of the epidemic of coronavirus the deadlines of the procedure for selecting strategic investor on the project NPP “Belene” are postponed.

The specific deadlines will depend largely on the possibility of full access of participants in the so-called “information room” to study the technical documentation of the project, on the basis of which the participants' proposals will be formed,” BGNES quoted him as saying.

The state corporation Rosatom is optimistic about the implementation of the Belene NPP, despite the delay in the tender due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Despite the delay caused by objective reasons, we take great interest in it and are optimistic,” the source said.

He also noted that Bulgaria, within the limits of its capabilities, will continue the work on the auction for the construction of the plant, despite the restrictive measures introduced in the country due to the coronavirus. On the Russian side, they specified that the process would continue online on a number of issues.
