Easyjet suspends its flights because of coronavirus

Easyjet is another international carrier to suspend all its flights due to the coronavirus pandemic, DPA has informed.
Britain's low-cost airline said today it could not say when it would fly again.

Most international flights are now banned because of the spread of the coronavirus, first recorded in China late last year, and then spread to almost all countries around the world, claiming over 30,000 lives.

"Quantas” (Qantas) and the Etihad) have also suspended their flights entirely for now.

At this time, it cannot be said with certainty the date of the resumption of civilian flights. We will continuously assess the situation based on regulations and demand and inform the market when we have an opinion, the airline said in a communication.

The company assures its investors that its finances are strong and that it has reached an agreement to pay its cabin staff 80 percent of salaries for two months starting Wednesday.

Easyjet notes that it has worked with governments until Sunday including to pick up 45,000 customers with 650 rescue flights. The last such flight was on Sunday.
