Electricity production rose 10.39% compared to 2020

Bulgaria's electricity generation has risen 10.39 percent for the period January 1, 2021 - May 9, 2021 compared to January 2020 - May 9, 2020. This shows the latest operational data of the Electricity System Operator (ESO) on the energy balance of the country for the specified period, which are published on the operator's website.
From the beginning of the year to 9 May, electricity generation of 17 036 417 MWh was recorded, while for the analogous period of the past year it was 15 432 544 MWh.

Consumption in the country increased by 2.79 percent over the period. From the beginning of the year until 9 May, 14 925 567 electricity was spent, while for the analogous period of 2020 consumption was 14 520 150 MWh.

Data show that for the period 1 January 2021 - 9 May 2021 compared to 1 January 2020 - 9 May 2020 the balance (export-import) has risen by 131.35 per cent.

The participation of base plants from the beginning of the year to 9 May compared to this period of the past year increased by 4.14 per cent, the operator added. From 1 January 2021 to 9 May 2021, 13 421 130 MWh of electricity was produced from base plants, while for that period of 2020 production was 12 887 903 MWh.

For the comparison period ESO reported a decrease in the participation of RES in the transmission network by 12.83 percent, as well as in the distribution network by 7.91 per cent.

There is an increase in the share of electricity by 96.72 per cent for the period 1 January 2021 - 9 May 2021 compared to January 2020 - 9 May 2020, ESO data also showed.
