Gross external debt at the end of August 2020 was EUR 36,020.8 million

The gross external debt in the country at the end of August 2020 is 36,020.8 million euros (63.5 per cent of the estimated Gross Domestic Product /BP/), reports the Bulgarian National Bank.
That's 842.6m euros (2.4 per cent) more than the end of 2019. (35 178.2 million euros, 57.4% of GDP). Debt grew on an annual basis by 1188m euros (3.4 per cent).

At the end of August 2020, long-term liabilities were EUR 27 749 million (77 per cent of gross debt, 48.9 per cent of GDP).Long-term debt rises by €1393.6 million (5.3 per cent) compared to August 2019.

General government gross external debt at the end of August 2020 was EUR 5665.4 million (10% of GDP). The sector's external liabilities increased on an annual basis by EUR 249.2 million (4.6 per cent).The external liabilities of the Banks sector are EUR 4788.1 million (8.4 per cent of GDP). Bank debt grew on an annual basis by 226.8m euros (5 per cent).
