Guangdong Province builds 60,000 base stations for 5G network by the end of 2020

The southern Chinese province of Guangdong will build 60,000 base stations for the 5G network in the current year, with 50,000 of them due to be completed in three quarters.
Initially, the nine municipalities in the Pearl River Delta and subsequently 90% of the province's entire population will have 5G coverage by the end of the year, the local telecommunications office said, Radio China reported.

In 2019, the volume of Guangdong's telecommunications business grew by nearly 56 per cent year-on-year to 1.2 trillion yuan ($172.6 billion). That accounts for about 12 percent of China's total volume.

At the end of last year, Guangdong Province had 36,988 operating base stations from the 5G network.
