The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in September 2020 was 1 787.2 thousand or by 42.3% less in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The total revenues from nights spent in September 2020 reached 88.1 million BGN or by 47.1% less compared to September 2019.
Data also show that there is a collapse in foreign tourists during the month, but a growth in Bulgarian. The same dependence has, respectively, in revenue. Many of the Bulgarians who usually chose Greece for a holiday this time were prevented because of the restrictions when entering the country and preferred to stay in Bulgaria.
The total occupancy of bed-places in accommodation establishments in September 2020 was 27.3%, decreasing by 9.1 percentage points compared to September 2019. The highest occupancy of beds in hotels with 4 and 5 stars - 34.6%, followed by 3-star accommodation - 24.7%, and with 1 and 2 stars - 19.1%.
However, the number of nights stays dramatically for a year - by 42.3% to a total of 1.787 million. The most expected is the decrease in hotels with 4 and 5 stars - 47.3%, where mainly foreign tourists stay, who largely abstained from their summer holidays in Bulgaria this summer.
In hotels with 4 and 5 stars are realized 78% of the total number of nights of foreign citizens and 42.4% - of Bulgarians. In 3-star accommodation establishments there are 13.6% of the nights of foreign citizens and 26.3% of Bulgarians, while in the other accommodation establishments (with 1 and 2 stars) they are 8.4 and 31.3% respectively.
The number of overnight overnights in September decreases by 30% compared to the same month of 2019 and reaches 593.3 thousand. There was a collapse in foreign citizens - by 63.4%, while in Bulgarians there was an increase - by 11.6%. The Bulgarians are 421.5 thousand and have realized an average of 2.6 nights. Foreign citizens amounted to 171.8 thousand and made an average of 4.1 nights, 77.6% of them stayed overnight in hotels with 4 and 5 stars.
The total revenues from nights spent reached 88.1 million BGN or by 47.1% less compared to September 2019. There was a collapse of revenues from foreign citizens - by 67.5%, while those from Bulgarians increased - by 18.2%.
Hotels with growth in Bulgarian tourists in September
In September 2020 during the ongoing epidemic situation in the country 2,589 establishments with more than 10 beds were functioned - hotels, motels, camping sites, chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation. The total number of the rooms in them was 102.9 thousand and the bed-places were 227.2 thousand. In comparison with September 2019 the total number of accommodation establishments that functioned during the period decreased by 11.5% and the number of bed-places in them - by 22.9%.
