Mariyana Nikolova in Pamporovo: Tourists expected by mid-April

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Mariyana Nikolova during her visit to Pamporovo. She made sure of compliance with the operating instructions for lifts and tugs developed by the Ministry of Tourism, her department said.

Minister Nikolova also said that according to provisional data from the Unified System for Tourist Information about 62 thousand tourists have stayed overnight in the resort of Pamporovo and the municipalities of Smolyan and Chepelare since the beginning of the winter season 2020/2021. The visitor decline appears to be around 35% from last winter season. The number of Bulgarian guests in the region is over 58 thousand and their reduction is expected to be below 20% for the entire winter season 2020/2021. Romanian, Turkish, Serbian and Greek tourists have also visited the resort during the current season. The most visitors to the region are between 30 and 44, with more than 40 per cent of all travellers and more than 64 per cent of guests opted to stay in hotels.

The business has proven that it can work in strict compliance with the sanitary and hygienic regulations and uniform rules of security, safety and hygiene and offer an excellent service to tourists, commented the Deputy Prime Minister. And stressed that thanks to discipline and enhanced control in the winter season there is not a single case of proven coronavirus infected visitor in our resorts. In her words, the mountain remains one of the places that can offer entertainment and sports with guaranteed safety and safety for health. She appealed to all those who practice winter sports to use only the processed and marked tracks, so as not to lead to accidents in the mountains.

At the moment the lifts and facilities are working in strict compliance with the anti-epidemic measures and this will be maintained until the end of the season, Minister Nikolova added. According to her, this is important for all lovers of winter sports because it gives them safety and peace of mind when practicing their favorite activities.

Deputy Prime Minister Nikolova also presented awards in the first ski and snowboard competition organized by snowboarder Rado Yankov.
