During the corresponding previous one-year period their growth was lower both in percentage terms (9.1 per cent) and in absolute value (BGN 1527.3 million).
At the end of March the share of banknotes in the total value of money in circulation was 97.69 per cent and of the coins - 2.30 per cent. The share of commemorative coins in the total value of money in circulation is 0.01 percent.
At the end of March, 510.1 million banknotes were in circulation, with 37.6 million pieces, or 6.9 per cent (including 2 leva banknotes taken out of circulation) less compared to the end of 2020. For the same period their total value decreased by 0.4 per cent, reaching as of 31 March 20 678.9 million.
The average banknote in circulation at the end of the first quarter of 2021 is BGN 40.54, which represents an increase by BGN 2.65 compared to the end of 2020. For a one-year period its value has increased by BGN 2.94, or by 7.8 per cent, due to both the higher rates of increase in the monetary circulation of the number of banknotes of 50 and 100 leva compared to the other nominals, as well as the fact that as of January 1, 2021 the banknotes from two levs were taken out of circulation.
With the largest share (34.92 per cent) in the total number of banknotes in circulation at the end of the first quarter is the banknote with a nominal 50 leva. The number of banknotes of BGN 5 is the smallest share (5.54 per cent).
In circulation at the end of March there are 2741.2 million coins, which are 19.1 million pieces, or 0.7 per cent more compared to their number from the end of 2020. For the same period their total value has increased by 4.9 million BGN, or by 1.0 per cent, and at the end of March 2021 it reached 488.7 million levs.
The average in value bargaining chip in circulation at the end of the first quarter of 2021 is 0.18 BGN and remains unchanged for the last year, reports BNB.
For the period January-March 2021 in the National Analysis Centre of BNB, a total of 217 pieces of non-genuine Bulgarian banknotes circulating in the monetary circulation were detained. Compared to the fourth quarter of 2020 they are four more, reports BNB. The share of these non-genuine banknotes compared to the total number of banknotes in circulation at the end of March 2021 was 0.000043 per cent.
National Bank: For a year money in circulation increased by 15.4%
At the end of March 2021, the money in circulation reached BGN 21 208.7 million. For a one-year period (compared to the end of March 2020) they rose by 15.4 per cent, or by BGN 2825.5 million, reported by the Bulgarian National Bank /BNB/.tags:
