Nikolova assured the ambassador of Great Britain in the comfort of tourists in Bulgaria

On the eve of the summer season of 2021, I would like to assure you that the Ministry of Tourism will make every effort to ensure the comfort of British citizens holidaying in Bulgaria, for whom Bulgaria is a familiar and diverse holiday destination. I give a clear message that our country has taken all necessary measures to strengthen its image as a safe place for tourist visits. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Resigned Tourism Mariyana Nikolova during her conversation with H.E. Rob Dixon, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This was reported by the Ministry of Tourism.
Minister Nikolova specified that traditionally hundreds of thousands of British tourists enjoy each year on our Black Sea coast, in our winter resorts, in Sofia and our largest cities. “Taking into account the above and the fact that Bulgaria is emerging from the third wave of the coronavirus and the number of newly infected people is decreasing every day, and that vaccination rates in our country are accelerating, I believe that the British authorities will classify our country as a “green destination” with the impending easing of measures in the United Kingdom”, the Minister said. In her words, this will be an extremely useful decision in the direction of increasing the tourist flow, and another undisputed act of friendship and solidarity from one of Bulgaria's most important partners.

The Deputy Prime Minister clarified that Britain is one of the most important markets for tourism and explained the opportunities for entry into Bulgaria during the upcoming summer season. “I hope that the authorities of the Island will also ease the ways of entering the UK for Bulgarian citizens. That would be a very useful decision,” she was adamant.

The Minister also drew attention to the fact that great progress has been made in terms of vaccination of workers in the industry, which gives huge hopes for a peaceful and safe summer. “The local health authorities and the Ministry of Tourism have taken the necessary measures on Bulgarian resorts and tourist destinations for the continuation of the holiday period without risk of COVID-19 contamination for the guests”, she added.

For his part, British Ambassador Rob Dixon said that the situation in all countries is changing very dynamically, and it is expected that on 10 May the British authorities will announce the so-called traffic light system, according to which different countries will be classified and, accordingly, the ways of entering the United Kingdom Kingdom. “This system will be updated every two weeks,” he said. According to his words, Bulgaria has traditionally been visited by a large number of British citizens and hopes that this trend will continue to be preserved.
