Nikolova: We discuss restaurants to open under the conditions of those in the hotels

It is discussed the possibility to open all restaurants under conditions where the restaurants in the hotels are currently operating. The next meeting of the National Operations Headquarters on Thursday will further discuss the possibility of loosening measures concerning establishments. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Mariyana Nikolova after the meeting held in the Ministry of Health with representatives of the restaurant industry. The discussion was attended by Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov, Minister of Labour and Social Policy Denitsa Sacheva and Economy Minister Luchezar Borissov, announced the press center of the Ministry of Tourism.
Minister Nikolova explained that at the moment the possibility of opening the establishments is being discussed two weeks after February 4, 2021, if the epidemiological situation in the country allows it. He added that the industry's insistence is to open restaurants as of February 1st, again subject to specific conditions — 50% occupancy and curfew. Various options are discussed for the curfew — 22:30, 23:30, but it has not yet been agreed, the Deputy Prime Minister specified.

The most important are the life and health of the people and the health authorities are those who have to make the final decision on the occasion of changing the order of the Minister of Health, concluded Minister Nikolova.

Regarding the compensation to the business, the Deputy Prime Minister commented that the expected notification from the Commission should be received within a few days. Additional funds under the social measures will be paid by the end of the month so that the industry will receive its benefits, she clarified. And he added that during the meeting, the continuation of the measure 60 to 40, which for the tourism industry is 80 to 20, was also discussed.
