Retail chains offer car parks to native farmers to sell their produce

The retail chains offer to separate farmers' markets with Bulgarian manufacturers in their parking lots. Around this proposal united the Association for Modern Trade and the representatives of the retail chains. This happened during a videoconference call with the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Desislava Taneva, initiated by the Association for Modern Trade, the press center of the agriministry announced.
Private operators may make this limited term commitment at any site where they have a parking lot, providing an area of it for native producers to offer their production. The deadline for the implementation of these markets to be linked to the state of emergency in the country.. We will not back down from our request in the retail chains to be present Bulgarian local production. The Ministry's actions are aimed at supporting Bulgarian production, small and domestic producers and preserving their livelihoods”, Minister Taneva said.

Local Bulgarian produce is fresher, fresh and more familiar, it is part of the local life and culture. Consumers should have the right to access local production, and their choice is what they prefer.

Desislava Taneva commented that the proposal of the retail chains will be included in the MACG proposals and sent to the branch organizations in the Agriculture sector for an opinion. It will be given until Friday, when the draft proposal to support local production will be finalised.

At the request of the Association for Modern Trade, a working group was established today between MACG and retail chains. Its chairman is the Director of the Agri-Food Chain Policies Directorate.
