Singapore earmarks $30bn to support businesses over coronavirus

Singapore today announced new measures worth more than $30 billion to support the country's businesses and households in their fight against the new coronavirus pandemic that threatens to plunge this flagship economy into a deep recession, Reuters reported.
The new plan, worth 48 billion Singapore dollars or nearly $33 billion, would force a government to reach into state reserves for the first time since the global financial crisis, BTA reported.

Weeks ago, the city held aside several billion dollars in its annual budget to fight the virus, recalls Reuters.
