Swiss Ambassador to Borisov: Business conditions in Bulgaria are good (Video)

Good conditions for business in Bulgaria and joint efforts to attract more investments were the topic of the meeting of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov with the Ambassador of Switzerland to Bulgaria Muriel Berse Cohen. The two spoke in Targovishte, where they visited the HOVAG plant. The cable company, producing parts including medical equipment and respirators, is a member of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce and has over 100 employees achieving 100% quality of production. “The conditions for business in Bulgaria are good. The embassy and the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce are working for more Swiss companies to come and invest in the country,” Swiss Ambassador Muriel Berse said as part of the conversation. This was reported by the Government Information Service.
Prime Minister Borissov highlighted the active work of the government in support of business and investment in Bulgaria. In his words, it is important that investors show interest in different cities in the country. The Prime Minister also pointed to the huge advantage that motorways and good infrastructure give. “The most important thing is to overcome the pandemic, after which the economy will go up”, Borisov said. The Prime Minister noted that many European companies have reconsidered that it is better to produce the important things in Europe, including Bulgaria. The factory management showed the production process, specifically demonstrated the work of a machine created in Bulgaria and then implemented in the production of a concern outside the country.

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov thanked the Ambassador of Switzerland to Bulgaria Muriel Berse Cohen for the efforts in the interest of the development of relations between Bulgaria and Switzerland, including in the economic sphere. As of the end of June 2020, Switzerland's direct foreign investments in Bulgaria amounted to 1.37 billion euros, which ranks the country tenth in the amount of foreign direct investments in Bulgaria. Swiss investors carry out their activities in traditionally fast growing sectors in Bulgaria in recent years.
