I am extremely impressed by the amount of environmental investments and care taken for people's health, commented Emil Dimitrov
Minister of Environment and Water Emil Dimitrov visited Asarel-Medet AD together with Deputy Ministers Slaveya Stoyanova and Iliyana Todorova. They were welcomed by the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company Dimitar Tsotsorkov and the Executive Director Eng. Delcho Nikolov. Both presented the company's history, production and results. The minister saw the automation of processes in the mine and enrichment factory, where last generation mining technologies operate. He examined the production of copper cathodes and became familiar with investments in environmental projects, reclamation and treatment facilities.

Dimitar Tsotsorkov told more about the company's contribution to the development of the municipality of Panagyurishte, pointing out the donation to the hall vault of the Panagyurski Golden Treasure and the two gold copies of the Thracian masterpiece, the built sports hall “Arena Asarel” and “Uni Hospital”, because of which Panagyurishte welcomed the pandemic in third place in the country by number of doctors per capita.

Eng. Delcho Nikolov pointed out that Asarel-Medet AD retains its stability and pace of development. During the crisis for the whole world 2020 the company invested over BGN 75 million in modernization of production, environmental protection, safe working conditions, energy efficiency and staff training.

Programmes for long-term sustainable development have invested a total of BGN 1.4 billion, and only the company's environmental projects are worth 82 million BGN after privatization. Already in 2000, the first Cyclical-Stream technology for transport of discovery was put into operation for Bulgarian ore mining, in which BGN 61 million were invested. Over the years this technology has been upgraded and developed, as in the two new projects for ore transport and discovery, another BGN 120 million have been invested. Thanks to this, there has been a reduction in exhaust gases from ore cars by 40% and a much higher production efficiency that helps the company's resilience to a metal price crash. Due to the modernization of the flotation processes, 15% lower electricity consumption has been achieved, said Executive Director Eng. Nikolov.

“I am extremely impressed by the amount of environmental investments, the care taken to protect the environment and human health. I wish many more successes to the whole team”, Minister Emil Dimitrov wrote in the company's visitor book. He received as a memento a panagyurian cherry ball.
