Tomorrow the offers for supervision in the construction of the tunnel under Shipka opens

Tomorrow - April 30, offers for construction supervision in the design and construction of a tunnel under Shipka are opened in the Road Infrastructure Agency.
It is planned to build a section of 10,553 km, of which 7.6 km are new construction, and 2.9 km are reconstruction of the existing I-5 Gabrovo - Kazanlak road, as well as 5 tunnels with a total length of 4,011 km. The tunnel under Shipka will be 3.2km. The remaining 4 tunnels are smaller - 171m, 240m, 90m and 290m respectively.

6 bridges and 1 underpass, 12 pcs. reinforced embankments, one reinforced concrete retaining wall, one reinforced concrete reinforcing wall, and so on. The indicative value of the contract for construction supervision is BGN 6 243 600 excluding VAT.

The tunnel under the vr. Shipka will be located 1 km west of Shipka pass and 1 km east of Mount Malusha. The northern part of the tunnel will be in Gabrovo region and the southern one in Stara Zagora region. It will be with two lanes of movement, two leading stripes and two pavements.

The term for execution of construction works is 1 280 calendar days or nearly 3 and a half years. The project “Design and construction of a site: “Gabrovo detour from km 20+124.50 to km 30+673,48, including tunnel under Shipka peak” is planned to be offered for funding from the future Operational Programme “Transport Connectivity” 2021-2027.

The tunnel will be a nodal point in the direction of North-South and through it will take place the passage through the Balkan Mountains in the central part of Bulgaria. The main transport directions it will serve are: Ruse — Veliko Tarnovo — Shipka — Stara Zagora — Svilengrad (Makaza) and Oryahovo — Sevlievo — Shipka — Stara Zagora — Svilengrad (Makaza).
