China's foreign trade increased by 1.9 percent year-on-year to 32.16 trillion yuan ($5 trillion) in 2020, a record level according to the country's General Customs Administration. Exports reported a 4% year-on-year rise to nearly 18 trillion yuan, and imports fell slightly by 0.7 per cent to just over 14 trillion yuan.
Last year, the foreign trade volume of 16 Chinese cities exceeded 500 billion yuan, with 9 of them reaching 700 billion, and in another five it surpassed 1 trillion.
