Last year, about 12.6 million foreigners visited at the height of the COviD-19 pandemic, bringing $12.6 billion in revenue to the Treasury. In 2019 Turkey welcomed 45 million tourists and 7 million Turks from abroad, securing $35 billion in revenue, the Hurriyet Daily News reminds.
Last month, Deputy Culture and Tourism Minister Nadir Alpaslan said he expects 34 million foreign visitors to Turkey this year, mostly from Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, Britain and the Netherlands.
