In carrying out the task set by the President of Ukraine to equip the army with modern weapons, we came to the belief that we needed Turkish drones. Modern Turkish combat drones have those specifics we need, Taran said. He added that there are plans to move towards joint production with Turkey of drones.
Taran pointed out that it is not just about creating a company, but about transferring technologies. He added that Ukraine has technologies it can share with Turkish firms.
Taran pointed out that the Ukrainian leadership had already managed to convince themselves of the effectiveness of Turkish drones, especially the Bayraktar models.
The Ukrainian Defence Minister points out that “Turkey is a key country that will help Ukraine on the road to achieving the goal of NATO entry, in connection with which countries will expand their cooperation”, BTA reported.
On December 14, Ukraine announced that the two countries had signed an agreement on the production of corvettes and impact drones for the Ukrainian army. In 2019 Kiev bought and conducted trials of Turkish drones “Bayraktar” TV2, which are planned to be fitted with high-precision MAM-L airbooms of the Turkish company Rocketsan. According to unofficial data, that contract is worth $69 million.
