UN: About 25 million will be out of work because of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic will significantly increase unemployment globally, forcing an estimated 25 million people to be unemployed. This is what the United Nations said today.
“The economic and labor crisis created by the pandemic could increase global unemployment by almost 25 million,” the International Labour Organization said in a new study quoted by BGNES.

She adds that an internationally coordinated response could “significantly reduce” that number.

“The COVID-19 pandemic will make millions of people unemployed and poor,” the U.N. said, warning that global workers will lose up to $3.4 billion in revenue this year alone.
