At a press conference yesterday, China National Biotec Group said the world's first inactivated vaccine plant against the new coronavirus in Beijing had passed the biosafety inspection of the relevant authorities and had been cleared to begin mass production at any time.
Construction of the Beijing plant took only two months and finished on 15 April. The company says it followed China and the World Health Organization's respective biosafety standards. Construction of the company's support laboratory in Wuhan ended on July 1 and expects to pass the necessary checks to launch production as soon as possible.
The company promises an annual capacity of 220 million doses of inactivated COVID-19 vaccines following the launch of production lines in Beijing and Wuhan.
